Aerial Yoga 201
Special Note: Aerial Yoga classes run for 6 weeks, 2 times per session. Please check the class dates before registering.
Requirements: Completion of at least one session of the Beginner/Gentle class, or permission of instructor.
Description: Continuing/Active Flow
This class will build on the fundamental Unnata® Aerial Yoga postures, adding more physically challenging asanas and variations, and continuing to build strength and flexibility. We will work on stringing together poses and movements, while continuing to focus on breath and alignment. Students will also have the opportunity to put together their own sequences as part of developing their own movement practices.
Aerial yoga uses a low hanging fabric sling to support the body in different aerial yoga poses. Some poses look quite similar to traditional yoga poses, others are literally turned upside down. Classes will include core and upper body strengthening exercises, poses to increase flexibility, and many poses that allow gravity to gently traction and release the spine. Expect a strong practice and some delicious relaxing poses unique to the aerial sling.
Space is limited, and pre-registration is required. Please arrive 10 minutes early to your first class. Wear long leggings or pants and a lightweight long sleeved shirt, and remove all jewelry.
